This route takes a longer approach to Mt. everest, following the footsteps of the early expeditions, but with a slight variation. To avoid the long Bus drive to the original trailhead of Jiri one flies into phalpu to begin the trek through the much quieter Solu region of the Solukhumbu . one crosses the Trakshindo-La before descending towards fast flowing milky Dudh Kosi river. The trail then follows the “Milky river” north through terraced hillsides and small villages to join the main Everest trail below Lukla, giving visitors time to adjust to life on the trail, acclimatize and, with the benefits of increased fitness, make the final ascent to Kalapatthar.
Once in the Khumbu region the views of the Mountains –Kwangde, Thamserku, Nuptse, Lhotse, Amadablam, the “horse saddle” of Kanteiga and of course the summit of Everest itself – improve with every step. One is allowed ample time for acclimatization and exploration of the area in preparation for ascent of Kalapatthar (5545m). from lobuche, the trailwinds its way through glacial moraines until the grandest peak of them all comes into view. When one are rewarded with the magnificent view of the south face of Everest. The return trip is via a different route- through Pangboche and on to Lukla for the flight back to Kathmandu.
