Overview:
The Trek from Lukla to Gokyo Lake offers an interesting alternative to the more traditional Everest Base Camp trek and has the advantage of being less well known and therefore a lesser-trekked trail than its more famous Khumbu counterpart. As further incentive, the mountain views are arguably superior on this side of the range. More of mount Everest is visible from Gokyo Ri than it is from Kalapatthar for example (albeit from a slightly further distance) and there are superb views of the incredible Ngozumpa Glacier, the largest glacier in the Nepali Himalaya. This trek is one of the most challenging and adventurous trek in Everest region.
