Trekking around Manaslu offers a unique opportunity to experience a reasonably untouched region of Nepal. We cross the highest pass of Manaslu Region which is Larkya La Pass (5160m/16924ft) with spectacular mountain ranges with Manaslu Himal (8163m) which 8th highest mountain in world. The trek is geographically spectacular & culturally fascinating. The inhabitants of the upper Buri Gandaki, a region known as Nupri (the western mountains) are direct descendants of Tibetan immigrants who settled here in the early 1600s.
Although the pass is not difficult, the trek around manaslu is harder than most in Nepal. In many places the walls of Buri Gandaki Valley are perpendicular, so there is huge amount of climbing as we trek up & down over ridges or onto shelves to bypass cliffs. The Larkya La Pass is one of the most dramatic pass crossing in the Himalayas. These days the region draws a mixture of trekkers and mountaineers. It’s not a busy trek by any means, but it is becoming ever more popular for its range of scenery, cultural variety and its fledgling lodges. As the Annapurna Region becomes increasingly affected by road construction you can expect the Manaslu region to rise as a challenging alternative.
